Member Information for the March 2009 Quilt Show
Our basket committee is asking for contributions of fat quarters in batiks, 1800s and novelty fabrics. While in your travels, pick up a few and give to Susan Price and her committee. They also are looking for gift certificates for any and all local stores/restaurants/etc. You won’t get them unless you ask. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so ask wherever you go. Start now!
Now is the time to start your mini quilt project for the show. It can be a wall hanging (no bigger than 15" X 15") or maybe you are better at making potholders. Since you are making something small (make 2), you can make it special and unique using your best work – something to tempt quilters and non-quilters alike. You could make table runners, doll quilts or a tote/purse, etc. Make your contribution(s) to the "mini quilt auction" which will be held with different selections each day of the show. If you have questions, contact Ruth Watermann.
Raffle quilt tickets are available. Each member will be given 42 tickets to sell along with pictures and write-ups about the quilts and the charity. For additional tickets, contact Marilyn Lange or Becky Wells. Also, bookmarks are available for you to distribute to friends and family.
Quilt show entry forms are available at all meetings and should be returned to Charlene Taylor (either in person or by email) no later than the January guild meeting. The form should be accompanied by a photo of the entry. The form also is available here as a Word document. Please submit a form for each entry, including Challenge Quilts, Mystery Quilts, decorator items, etc.
Are you working on your Challenge Quilt? The theme is "10" in honor of our 10th show. Anything that represents "TEN" goes!
All earnings from the Quilt Show will benefit our hard-working student, Maimouna.
Quilt Show Demonstrations: Volunteers are still needed for demonstrations at the quilt show. Do you have a favorite finishing technique, or a special block you enjoy making that you could share with others? Call Pat Mitchell to volunteer. Hand quilters also are needed to demonstrate their skills during the show. Call Debbie Leonard to volunteer to be a hand quilter.
Copies of the News Release about the upcoming show are available here.
